Who we are: The network “RiVolti ai Balcani” is composed of over 36 entities and individuals involved in the protection of human rights and the fundamental principles of the Italian Constitution and European and international norms.
The grant: Through the “Rivolti ai Balcani” grant we aim to support grassroots refugee support groups operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The fund “Rivolti ai Balcani” must be used to fund work with people on the move in BiH. The majority of costs must be for direct costs of activities and purchasing of goods, not for organizational support or communication.
Our primary aim is to support people on the move in BiH such as refugees, asylum-seekers, migrants, but also local communities affected by migration. In particular we are willing to reward projects aiming to inclusion and not only emergency response or humanitarian help to the people in transit through BiH.
Activities can be held only outside the official reception centers, while daily centers, safe houses, youth centers can be considered eligible places where to develop activities.
Who can apply? Small independent organizations and informal groups of volunteers (if not an organization, it will be necessary to add a short presentation letter of your group and add 5 names at least of people that are in network and who will be the contact person. The group must also provide a bank account – devizni racun – of the person nominated as responsible for the funds).
Where possible, we will work with local organisations. If you are an international group, the more local staff or volunteers you have – including people on the move – the more sustainable you are.
Budget: every organization or group can receive a grant of up to 5.000 €
Max of the budget allocated: 55.000 €
Funding: First tranche of 60% of the total amount requested will be sent after the signature of the contract, 40% once received the report of the expenses for the first tranche
Time of realization of the project: eligible expenses will go from 15.06.2021 until 31.11.2021
Duration of the project: min 3 – max 6 months
Time for final narrative and financial report: 20.12.2021
Deadline for application: 30th May 2021 We will get back to you by 6th June 2021.

FAQs
- Can the grant make up part of a larger overall budget? No, we cannot co-fund other on-going projects.
- Can the grant be used to cover ‘core’ or operational costs?
We will accept organizational costs up to 10% of the total requested.
- Can we pay salaries?
We will accept salaries up to 20% of the total requested and only if registered with a regular contract (ugovor o dijelu, ugovor o radu) or invoice.
